Marie Zamecnikova spent several years honing her skills and understanding of the IT industry before launching her start-up. Today, Marie Olivie Ltd. is crossing the boundaries of traditional IT and technology, aiding in the digitization of various sectors.

Marie’s hands-on approach was crucial for understanding each aspect of the business before delegating to specialists like editors and brand and social media managers. Her proudest achievement is launching her company at 26 and serving as its CEO since. This early start allowed her to innovate and pilot new initiatives, setting Marie Olivie Ltd apart from more established firms.

Marie Zamecnikova initially had a passion for international relations, design, and business coordination, but she was drawn to the dynamic challenges of the tech industry. Despite the attractive prospects in her homeland, the Czech Republic, she yearned for something more. She craved the experience of exploring the world and understanding how technology operates and impacts different cultures and economies outside her own country. This desire for exploration and her expertise in project management led her to the tech industry. The field’s inherent challenges, requiring innovative problem-solving and constant adaptation, have not only fueled her growth but also solidified her commitment to making a meaningful impact through technology.

Despite the company’s impressive growth, Zamecnikova believes Marie Olivie Ltd is only scratching the surface. Having faced unemployment as a young professional, she’s committed to creating a company culture that values and recognizes every team member’s contribution. Moreover, she is determined to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the tech industry.

Mirror Review: Could you please share with us the challenges you faced as a woman in the tech industry? How did you overcome them?

Marie: As a woman and a mentor in the tech industry, I’ve experienced and observed a pervasive struggle for respect and equitable opportunities.  Many of my mentees have told me they feel overlooked and desire more significant responsibilities that are often more readily given to their male counterparts.

To address this, I established a mentorship program specifically designed to equip women with the skills and confidence needed to command respect and take on deserved responsibilities. This initiative is also a fundamental part of our upcoming courses, tailored to provide women in tech with the tools to secure their rightful place in a field ripe for change.

Mirror Review: Tell us about your team. What is your company culture like?

Marie: We have created an open and dynamic culture at Marie Olivie Ltd., reflecting the fast-paced tech industry we work in. Our commitment to inclusivity, born from the challenges I faced early in my career, recognizes each team member’s unique contributions. Therefore, we built an environment that celebrates diversity and international perspectives where freedom of expression is paramount. This approach ensures that every individual has the opportunity to voice their ambitions and areas for growth.

In addition, our weekly initiatives foster innovation and adaptability, allowing us to evolve constantly. By prioritizing these values, we not only enhance our work but also ensure that every team member feels seen and valued.

Mirror Review: As a woman in tech, what message would you like to convey to the world about the significance of diversity and inclusion in technology?

Marie: My message is a rallying cry for women to be fearless: it’s time to step forward and drive change. The field, especially artificial intelligence, faces a critical challenge with data that is skewed toward male perspectives. This imbalance can result in biased AI decision-making, impacting areas as crucial as healthcare. It’s not just about fairness but about harnessing the comprehensive insights that only diversity can offer.

We must act swiftly; we need more women in tech to rectify these disparities and steer AI towards serving everyone equitably. Women in tech are not just necessary; they are indispensable.

Mirror Review: How do you manage to have a perfect work-life balance? What are your hobbies/interests beyond the cabin?

Marie: My passion for alternative medicine, sports, and drawing plays a significant role in achieving a balanced work-life dynamic. By delving into biohacking, I optimize my energy levels beyond conventional means, which is instrumental in managing my business and personal life. I embrace innovative and traditional health practices like the Wim Hof method, ice baths, and sauna sessions, which contribute to my overall well-being.

Drawing also allows me to tap into my feminine energy, providing a vulnerable and creative outlet for my aspirations. Meanwhile, engaging in martial arts and sports shooting helps to hone my resilience and leadership skills. By balancing these activities, I maintain not only a work-life equilibrium but also a healthy integration of feminine and masculine energies, which is crucial in the business world.

Mirror Review: Is there anything you wish you had known before you started your own tech company? What advice would you give to women who aspire to follow in your footsteps in the tech industry?

Marie: The mantra I live by is “No Health, No Wealth.” My advice to women in tech and beyond is this: Prioritize your well-being with the same intensity as your career goals. Pursuing professional milestones relentlessly without maintaining your health can put both your personal and business aspirations at risk.

Balance is crucial—make an early investment in your health, and it will yield dividends, enabling you to build and savor your achievements. Remember, your health is the silent partner in your venture; nurture it, and you lay the groundwork for lasting success.
