This partnership will protect Palo Alto Network data as they migrate to Alibaba Cloud.
Alibaba Cloud, the cloud-computing arm of China’s Alibaba Group and US-based global cybersecurity company Palo Alto Networks, announced a technology partnership lately. The announcement was made at the Computing Conference 2018 hosted by Alibaba Group in Hangzhou, China.
After commencing operations in Malaysia and India, Alibaba has recently started operations in Indonesia. Alibaba is globally increasing footprints not only in private sectors but also in the government sectors.
Alibaba’s own firm for customized AI chip generation
Reportedly, Alibaba is establishing its own firm to create a custom-made artificial intelligence chip. The chip, which expected to release in the second half of 2019, could help Alibaba’s fast-growing cloud and Internet of Things (IoT) businesses.
Jeff Zhang, Alibaba Chief Technology Officer, stated, “Moving ahead, we are confident our advantages in algorithm, data intelligence, computing power, and domain knowledge on the back of Alibaba’s diverse ecosystem will put us at a unique position to lead real technology breakthroughs in disruptive areas, such as quantum and chip technology.”
Alibaba Cloud, founded in 2009, provides a comprehensive suite of global cloud computing services to power its customers’ online businesses and Alibaba Group’s own e-commerce ecosystem. Alibaba Cloud’s international operations are registered and headquartered in Singapore and the company has teams located in cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Bengaluru, Jakarta, Dubai, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, London, New York, Paris, San Mateo, Seoul, Sydney, and Tokyo.
Palo Alto Networks, headquartered in Santa Clara, California, serves as a platform that includes advanced firewalls and cloud-based offerings that extend those firewalls to cover other aspects of security. The services offered by Alibaba Cloud are available on a pay-as-you-go basis and include data storage, relational databases, big-data processing, Anti-DDoS protection, and content delivery networks (CDN). The collaboration may help organizations protect their business-critical applications and data with Palo Alto Networks world-class security as they migrate to Alibaba Cloud.
Alibaba’s success in AI-based voice assistant
According to Alibaba, the company’s artificial-intelligence based voice assistant – Tmall Genie, has traded over five million units since its introduction in July 2017, has also been incorporated with home appliance and healthcare products from top electronics firms like Siemens and Phillips, and is also used in Hema, which is Alibaba’s local communication service.
