The aerospace and defense industry is one of the industries which were drastically changed because of the pandemic. It has also seen quite a descent in 2019 as compared to 2018. The commercial aerospace sector has experienced deterioration in the deliveries due to production-related issues in 2019. However, this industry is likely to recuperate from 2020 as the demand for commercial aircraft continues to expand in 2020. 

Innovation in Space Technologies

There has been a steady improvement in the global space sector and it is expected that a lot of new innovations and technologies will be taking place in the near future. These new advancements are expected to be in the proof-of-concept phase and will require funds. The current existing commercial space service providers are expected to evaluate their business models and technology which will create a shift in the market.

1. NASA has collaborated with Nokia to create a 5G internet service on the Moon

   NASA has decided to set up a 5G internet service on the Moon with the help of Nokia. They have also planned to establish human life establishment by the end of 2024.

2. NASA ready to send four astronauts to ISS as the SpaceX rocket issue is sorted.

   
   SpaceX rocket was discovered with a slight problem just 5 minutes before the launch. NASA engineers are thankful enough because they noticed the issue before otherwise it would have caused multiple issues and a major failure. After the ensuing investigation, it revealed that two of the rocket’s nine Merlin engines had attempted to start early which triggered the automatic abort.

3. A breakthrough tells that there is water on moon, reveals NASA

   
   Scientists have now discovered a reason for the survival of the water on moon despite its harsh environmental conditions. It could be trapped in “glass beads” which form micrometeorites crash into the moon. This might cause the melting of some part of the lunar surface which might either be forming water or capturing in the beads as it does.

4. A ‘distinct’ planet was seen cruising through the Milky Way, say scientists

   
   Scientists have discovered an elusive, Earth-sized planet making its way through the galaxy. They also have a theory about the roving planets, which do not have a specific star, tend to travel into other orbits.

5. NASA confirms it has secured its asteroid sample with the OSIRIS-Rex mission

   
   The Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, Security, Regolith Explorer (OSIRIS-Rex) mission has stowed the sample of the layer of unconsolidated rocky material covering bedrock that it scratched from an asteroid last week.

6. USA will see a rare full moon for Halloween for the first time in 76 years’

   
   Moonrise on Halloween this year is expected to be a bit spookier than the previous years. The sky will be illuminated by a full moon— which is a rare Halloween’s treat which happens only in 19 years. This will be the first time since 1944 that the blue moon will be visible. However, the moon will not actually be blue despite the colourful name.
