Microsoft confirmed that the company is in talks with Beijing-based firm Byte Dance to acquire TikTok. Microsoft aims to take over the TikTok businesses in the US, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, namely. The deal however excluded the business in India—despite India being the highest market of TikTok— due to the recent alleged ban.
