With a resolution to showcase unparalleled innovation in the information security industry, Marci McCarthy, CEO & President of T.E.N. has dedicated her career to the efforts. Since founding the ISE® Awards in 2002 and T.E.N. in 2010, Marci is working on the company’s mission to align with security professionals, technology companies, and thought leaders by empowering them to connect, collaborate, and celebrate. T.E.N. has accelerated the growth and success for the cyber security industry with the ability to deliver programs in 42 cities across North America.
A graduate from Babson College in 1993 Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing, Marci started her career in the information technology industry as a marketing associate for a company called Essense Systems, based in Peabody, Massachusetts.
It was only after moving to Atlanta in 1994 that Marci met several dynamic women from an emerging organization called “Women in Technology” (WIT) who mentored and introduced her to the power of networking and relationship building.
With almost 25 years of business management and entrepreneurial experience, Marci has been the Director of Product Marketing for Secureworks; the Director of Marketing for Lancope (acquired by Cisco); and the CEO of Executive Alliance. Currently, she is the CEO & President of T.E.N.; and CEO & Chairman of ISE® Talent. In addition to her professional experience, Marci also serves on the board of several non-profit organizations including TechBridge and The International Consortium of Minority Cybersecurity Professionals (ICMCP). Additionally, she also serves on the Atlanta Girls’ School Board of Trustees and is the Inaugural Advisory Board Chairman for The National Technology Security Coalition (NTSC).
The Founding Story of T.E.N.
The roots of T.E.N. started with the ISE® Awards Programs. At the time, there was a need for visibility and sharing success in the information security industry. The ISE® Awards were modeled after WIT’s Women of the Year Awards. This eventually evolved into the idea of connecting executives and vendors in a non-threatening and relaxed format that also provided the opportunity to highlight their successes and their achievements. This, in turn, opened doors of opportunity for collaboration between executives and projects teams with solution providers. It is a natural way of bringing together buyers and sellers in a trusted environment. The programs are designed to build bridges between solution providers and cybersecurity professionals via personal communications, knowledge sharing, and face-to-face interactions.
How T.E.N. Elevates the Security Industry
A national technology and a security executive marketing and networking organization, T.E.N. facilitates peer-to-peer relationships between top executives, industry visionaries and solution providers in the cybersecurity industry. Nominated for numerous industry awards, T.E.N.’s executive leadership programs enable information exchange, collaboration, and decision-making opportunities for Information Security Executives® and cybersecurity solution providers alike. Its flagship program, the nationally-acclaimed Information Security Executive® (ISE®) of the Year Program Series and Awards, is North America’s largest leadership recognition and networking program for security professionals.
T.E.N.’s events allow information security teams to network with other companies and collaborate on challenges and solutions. They can then take these shared innovations and ideas back to their own company and apply them in a way that helps improve their own security posture. The ISE® Awards also provide security executives the opportunity to celebrate the achievements their teams have made in a public fashion within the industry that rewards their hard work and tireless efforts. This can help them gain greater visibility in their own organization and help them garner the respect and attention they deserve as critical business drivers.
